The CSV Map Setting consists of
- CSV Mapping
- Save as contact
- Delimiter
- Quota
- Country Code
The following solution covers these configurations.
CSV mapping (Email bridge/ SFTP)
The platform needs basic contact information to send surveys. Basic contact information include:
- phone
- first
- surname
When a CSV file is sent to the platform via an Email Bridge /SFTP transfer a CSV mapping needs to put in place IF the CSV file doesn't contain a column either
- phone
- first
- surname
Under the Other setting for the campaign you can set, view or edit a CSV mapping by click CSV.
Examples
If for example your CSV file contains
- a column with 'TelephoneNR' which represents the customer's phone number then a mapping would be needed i.e. TelephoneNR -> phone
- a column with 'Customer Firstname' which represents the customers first name then a mapping would be needed i.e. Customer Firstname -> first
- a column with 'EmailAddress' which represents the customer email address then a mapping would be needed i.e. EmailAddress -> email
Note the mapping is case sensitive. The platform variables, email, phone, first, surname are all lower case.
In the examples above the column headers had characters in upper/lower case and some had spaces. This must be retained in the mapping as emailAddress is different to EmailAddress.
How to set
In the CSV-> SFTP/email bridge field enter the CSV column header and then select a corresponding platform basic contact info item from a drop-down menu.
Click 'Add mapping'
Repeat for the others as needed.
As you click away from the field the setting is automatically saved.
String Delimiter
The file you send over to the platform is a CSV and the contents will be separated or delimited by a string. You can set how the file is delimited in CSV mapper.
By default, it is set to a ,
If you need to change it to a | simply delete the , and replace with a |
As you click away from the field the setting is automatically saved.
Save as contact
When a file is transferred contact information will be saved to the contact manager by default. Toggle this to OFF if you don't want this to happen.
As you click away from the field the setting is automatically saved.
Quota
This setting when set - will limit the number of contacts used in a CSV file to send surveys. When unset - it will send a survey to all the contacts in the file. The use case for this settings is where there's no way to limit the number of contacts in a CSV file that is being sent to the platform via SFTP or Email bridge.
As you click away from the field the setting is automatically saved.
Country Code
If you are sending over phone numbers in a CSV file - you can set the country code that will be used in the validation of the phone numbers.
ISO Alpha-2 codes are accepted. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_3166_country_codes
