How to set up a campaign to display in the local language.

When a survey is opened on a browser (mobile/tablet/desktop) we detect what language the browser is set to. For example, a native English speaker will have their browser in English. There's different variants of English and all of these can be accommodated for.

The campaign will have a default language ( the language that is used in the campaign designer) but you can have several different language versions of the survey using our Translate feature.

Once you have created a list of questions in your chosen default language in campaign designer.

  1. Click on the Translate icon.
  2. Click the green add language button . This will open the window below.

  3. Select the language name from the drop down list.
  4. When you select a Country/Language - the browsercode will auto populate.  (A list of coded can be found at https://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_language_codes.asp. if the browser code can't be found in the drop down)
    1. Note - If you select English from the list this will cover English UK, English United States, English Canada etc. You don't need to add each of the country variants. This applies to other languages also e.g. French Standard covers all the French variants.
  5. Click translate to save your language settings.
  6. Click into the language options as below to edit the campaign questions.

  7. You will be presented with the base design language list of questions . In the example below we are converting Norwegian to Dutch. The base language is Norwegian.

  8. Click on the question and enter a translation in the language option you are creating from the base. In this example the base is Norwegian and the the translation is Dutch.

Enter the translation of the question  You will see the original language displayed above the your chosen language as below. Continue the process for all the remaining questions and then press save.

When the survey link is sent out to the user, the rendering process will detect the browser language settings and display the corresponding language.

In the example above the base language is set in Norwegian,  if that survey is sent to a Dutch contact it will display the pre-configured Dutch questions.
