Event Manager lets you record important things that happened in your business - product launches, outages, pricing changes, marketing campaigns, and more- and overlay them on Insights reports and charts.
When survey results move up or down, events help your team answer: “What was going on at that time?”
What Event Manager is for
Use Event Manager to:
- Record business events that may have affected customer feedback
- Scope events to all campaigns, one survey, or one label
- View events in a table or calendar
- Show events on Insights charts when reviewing trends over time
- Import events in bulk from an iCal calendar file (see related article below)
Events do not send surveys or change contact data. They are context markers for analysis only.
Who can use Event Manager
Where to find Event Manager
- Log in to TrustMinder.
- Go to Insights.
- Open the Event Manager tab.
Event Manager screen overview
At the top of Event Manager you will see:
Table view
Shows all your events in a sortable list with:
- Title
- Category
- Apply to (scope)
- Start date
- End date
- Edit and delete actions (if you have permission)
Calendar view
Shows events on a month calendar. Colour-coded chips indicate event category. Use the arrows to move between months, or click Today to return to the current month.
If you have edit access, click an event in the calendar to open it for editing.
Creating an event manually
Step 1 Open the Add event form
- In Event Manager, click Add event.
Step 2 Enter event details
Title (required)
A short, clear name e.g. “March price increase” or “API outage: 14 March”.
Description (optional)
Extra detail for your team. Useful when reviewing reports later.
Date (required)
The start date of the event.
End date (optional)
Use this for events that span multiple days e.g. a three-day conference or a week-long promotion. Leave blank for single-day events.
Repeats (new events only)
Create a repeating series when adding a new event:
- One-time (default)
- Every week
- Every month
- Every quarter
- Every year
Repeating events are created as separate dated entries for up to one year ahead.
Step 3 Choose where the event applies
Apply to controls which Insights reports and charts can show the event:
If you choose One campaign, select the survey from the dropdown.
If you choose One label, select the label.
Step 4 Choose a category
Pick the category that best describes the event:
- Product Release
- Technical Incident
- Policy/Pricing
- External Market
- Support/Success
- Internal Ops
- Other (add a custom label if needed)
Categories help your team scan events quickly and are colour-coded in calendar view.
Step 5 Impact Analysis (optional)
Expand Impact Analysis to add extra context. This is optional but useful for incidents:
- Severity level — P1 (Critical) through P4 (Low)
- Scope of impact — Global, Regional, or Segmented
- Detail — e.g. “Only users in Europe” or “Only Pro tier customers”
- Affected systems — e.g. API, Database, Billing Engine, Dashboard, Auth, Email, SMS, Integrations
Step 6 Save
Click Save. The event appears in Event Manager and can be shown on Insights charts (see below).
Editing an event
- In Table view, click the pencil icon on the row.
In Calendar view, click the event chip. - Update any fields.
- Click Save.
Note: The Repeats option is only available when creating a new event, not when editing.
Deleting an event
- In Table view, click the delete icon on the row.
- Confirm in the dialog.
Deletion is permanent - the event is removed from Event Manager and will no longer appear on charts.
Filtering events by date
Use the optional Date filter at the top of Event Manager:
- Enter a Start and/or End date.
- Click Apply.
Only events within that range are shown. Clear the dates and click Apply again to see all events.
Showing events on Insights reports
Creating an event in Event Manager does not automatically put it on every chart. You turn them on per report.
On a saved Insights report
- Open the report from Insights.
- In the sidebar under Details, turn on Show events on charts.
- Events that match the report’s survey/label and date range appear on supported timeline charts.
What you will see on charts
- Single-day events appear as a vertical marker on the chart timeline.
- Multi-day events appear as a shaded band across the date range.
- The event title is shown as the label.
When events may not appear
Check the following if events are missing from a chart:
- Show events on charts is turned off
- The event’s dates fall outside the report’s timeframe
- The event’s Apply to scope does not match the report (e.g. event is scoped to one campaign but you are viewing another)
- The chart type does not support event overlays (events appear on time-based line and area charts)
Importing events from a calendar file
If you have many events to add, use Import iCal to upload an .ics calendar export instead of entering each event manually.

Troubleshooting
I cannot see the Event Manager tab
Your account may not have Event Manager permission. Contact your administrator.
I can see events but cannot add or edit them
You may be logged in as an Analyst (view-only). Ask a colleague with edit access, or request permission changes from your administrator.
My event is saved but not on the chart
- Turn on Show events on charts in the report sidebar.
- Check the report date range includes the event dates.
- Check the event Apply to scope matches the report’s survey or label.
I created a recurring event but only see some dates
Repeating events are generated for up to one year from the start date. Dates beyond that are not created automatically.
Calendar view shows no events for a month
Use the month navigation arrows to find the right period, or clear any active Date filter.
I imported events but some were skipped
Open the import review screen and check Skipped entries. Common reasons include missing titles, duplicate events, or entries already in Event Manager.
Frequently asked questions
Do events affect survey results or scores?
No. Events are annotations for context only. They do not change data or calculations.
Can I attach events to more than one campaign at once?
Use One label if the event applies to a group of surveys, or All campaigns for organisation-wide events. To target specific surveys without a shared label, create separate events or use iCal import.
Can Analysts see my events?
Analysts with Event Manager access can view events (including those created by their parent account, depending on your setup). They cannot create or edit them.
Do events appear in Data Chat?
Relevant events can be included as context when using Insights Data Chat, helping the AI explain trends alongside your survey data.
What is the difference between an event and a report filter?
A filter changes which responses are included in analysis. An event is a visual marker showing what happened at a point in time it does not filter data.
