Editing a live question

When a survey is up and running and gathering responses you may need to tweak the survey.

Clicking a live question you wish to edit which has responses (more than 50) you will see a warning like this.

To make a change to the question (make small changes e.g. correct a typo) you can do so and tick the 'I know what I'm doing' and press Save Changes.

If you need to make bigger changes e.g. change the rating from 0 - 10 to 1-5, or ask a completely different question we recommend you approach doing this in a different way.

If you are changing the question completely or changing the rating we suggest you Clone (or add a new question) and then Archive the old question.

To access the Clone and Archive function simply hover over a question in the phone designer area you'll see three icons

displayed in the top right-hand corner of the question title.

This toolbox brings three functions to the

  • Clone
  • Archive
  • Delete

Cloning a question

When you clone a question the entire question ( is cloned BUT NO RESPONSE data is cloned. When you click the cloned question it has no responses and so it's safe to edit and make changes.

Use case for Cloning a question  - if you have created a multi-select question (strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree) you can create it once, clone it multiple times and change the question title. It saves you typing the select option again.

Archiving a question

When you archive a question it changes to a dark grey colour in the designer.

Once archived the question is NOT displayed to the respondent but the response data for this question remains available in the insights manager.

NB: If you archive a question that is used in a routing rule or outcome this rule will be archived and a reminder will be shown until the archived question is removed from the routing rule or outcome.

Un-Archive

To un-archive - simply click the Archive button again - this reverses the archive function making the question available once again in the survey.

Deleting a question [Use with caution]

If you click on the delete icon and trustMinder detects you have submissions to a survey you will be prompted a tick box 'I know what I'm doing' that must be selected before proceeding with deleting.
