Drag (or simply click) the Select question on the right-hand side into the phone.
Once in position click to edit.
The select question can be used in a variety of ways.
- Select 1
- Select multiple
- Select & rank
The select options can be randomised (helps to reduce bias response) and the options can be held in position or 'anchored'.
Other
The anchor is used when you have, for example, 'Other' and want to use a routing rule to open another question based on 'Other'.
Exclude
The Select options can also have an 'exclude' option too. When selected it will de-select all previously selected options. The use case is where you want to set 'None of the above' or create a mutually exclusive set of options.
The default number of options is 3 but you can add/remove options.
Set the question and add the select options in the field below the question.
Press Save changes or Cancel.
Coding the Select 1 Question
The select 1 question can be 'coded' when exported to CSV / Excel.
In the select question editor, simply toggle the 'Coded responses in export data' to be ON (Green).
Coding is turning the response, for example 'I definitely would' to be coded as a 1, 'I probably would' to be coded as a 2.
You can use the default coding values or set your own.
The exported output (CSV/Excel) for this question would look like. The coded responses are displayed in a single column (instead of multiple columns with TRUE set per response).
Notes
1/ For campaigns with existing data you can use this coding but only with the default coding - if you use custom codes (i.e. not 1,2,3,4) then the export will only have new responses with custom codes.
2/ This only works with Select 1 option. It will work if the options are randomised
3/ It will not work with Select multiple or select and rank.
